The aim of the strategy
The strategy helps target resources towards achieving Darlington’s vision for countryside access.
Research and benefits
This aim follows the findings of national, regional, and local research.
This research shows the importance, and benefit of improved countryside access.
The benefits include:
- the value of exercise to mental and physical health
- the importance of having public support for action
- the use of resources to improve the green environment
There is also a need to reverse the increasing gap between urban populations and people in rural areas.
