FRESH [external link] is the North East regional programme dedicated to reducing the harm from tobacco. Darlington is part of the programme alongside all 12 North East Local Authorities. 

FRESH are supporting the Council to be smoke-free by 2030 through their media campaigns and tireless advocacy work. In particular around the widely anticipated Tobacco and Vape Bill.

ASH

ASH (Action on Smoking and Health) [external link] are a valuable resource. They prepare regular briefings about the progress of the new Tobacco and Vapes Bill as it makes its way through Parliament.

Ban of Disposable vapes - 1st June 2025

From 1st June 2025 it will be illegal to buy disposable vapes online and from high street retailers. Our Trading Standards team have enforcement powers to prosecute anyone still selling disposable vapes after this time.
