February News

Play Park Consultation
We held a successful event at Mowden Park Stadium regarding the Neasham Road Play Park. A number of tenants visited the team to discuss where the park will be located and gave their opinions on the 3 options available. The Tenant Involvement Team also visited Rydal Academy Key Stage 2 pupils in their morning assembly. The children gave some great ideas of what they would like to see at the park.

Darts Scheme Tournament
In February the Tenant Involvement Team along with 3 scheme managers helped to organise the first inter scheme Darts Tournament, which took place at King William and involved Tenants from the Bank Top, North Riverside and Haughton areas of town.
Prior to the event the Tenant Involvement team had become aware when speaking to tenants at engagement events how tenants used to visit other in areas/schemes in the town, which built up a great interconnecting spirit. Years ago, tenants from different schemes arranged to attend games days or meet for coffee prior to COVID. It was clear to the team that the tenants wanted to reconnect with each other and felt like a Darts tournament was a perfect way to do this.
In the first event, 3 teams entered the tournament, Havelock, Ted Fletcher and King William they played against each other with the Havelock Team coming out on top. – Well done, Havelock! The day was successful, and all tenants had a great time playing darts and supporting each other. King William also provided a buffet at the end which was greatly received.
All 3 teams were keen to continue meeting up and the next event will be held in March at Havelock Community Centre.

Move More - Havelock
The tenants and visitors of the Havelock Centre love to meet up each Wednesday for their Chair based exercise class. Ruth the instructor can be seen putting them through their paces to give them a healthy controlled workout. This is then followed up with some treats such as scones, crumpets, a cake and a nice hot drink while they play bingo and test their knowledge with a quiz. All are welcome.
