Planning obligations supplementary planning document (SPD)
This SPD provides detail about the Council’s approach to securing planning obligations.
Planning Obligations, or ‘developer contributions’, are often secured through section 106 agreements.
They are a legal agreement, negotiated between the Council and the developer. The agreement happens through the planning application process.
The agreement helps to deliver infrastructure improvements. Improvements might be needed to address any extra burden generated by new development.
These agreements can be for housing developments and other types of developments.
The current SPD was adopted in January 2013. Some parts of the SPD have been replaced by policies in the Adopted Local Plan.
