Planning obligations supplementary planning document (SPD)

This SPD provides detail about the Council’s approach to securing planning obligations.

Planning Obligations can also be known as ‘developer contributions’ and are often secured through section 106 agreements.

They are legal agreements which are negotiated between the Council and the developer, through the planning application process.

The agreements are needed to help to deliver infrastructure improvements which are required to address the additional burden and needs generated by new development.

These agreements can be for housing developments and other types of developments.

The current SPD was adopted in January 2013. Some parts of the SPD have been replaced by policies in the Adopted Local Plan.
