Statement of community involvement
We adopted the current Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) (Part 1) on 28 July 2016. We adopted Part 2 on 1 August 2018.
About the SCI
- local communities
- businesses
- important stakeholders
when preparing:
- the local plan,
- future development plan documents (DPD’s),
- supplementary planning documents (SPD’s).
Darlington Council adopted its first SCI in November 2005. It was reviewed in July 2010.
We carried out a second review following the introduction of the Localism Act 2011, with reference to the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) and the amendments to the Town and Country Planning (Local Development)(England) Regulations in 2012.
Part 1 supersedes the SCI where it relates to Local Plans. The rest of the SCI 2010 relating to development management remains extant.
