Families experiencing problems in the home

We provide services to support and help families who are having difficulties with their children. There are a range of services available through Children’s Centres, education services, health professionals to assist families as well as services provided by us.

If you have been assessed by one of the Children and Family Teams you may be offered one of the following services.

Intensive Support Team

This team is available to families caring for a child age 10-16 who are at risk of family breakdown because of stress caused by the young persons behaviour. The Team works flexibly with families including in the evening and weekend to help with managing behaviour, improving parental confidence and organising time out

Family Group Conferences

This innovative approach to working with families offers an opportunity for families to get together to come up with solutions to difficulties in the family. This may result in children being able to remain within their families cared for by other family members or the family making a decision together on how best to help parents. We have staff who are experienced in offering this service and supporting families through it.
