Turning school grounds into a home for nature
The children at St. George's Academy, Middleton St. George, have been very resourceful and asked local farms to donate tractor tyres to use as raised beds. The KS1 children have been enjoying the beautiful dahlias that have thrived here as well as enjoyed measuring their pumpkin as it has got bigger and bigger!
Children in KS2 have been spotting new species of birds and insects that have been visiting their school grounds as a result of making nature a home. Last academic year, the Eco-Warriors after-school club created many new wildlife areas including log and stone piles to encourage more wildlife.
