Going Green Together update
Going Green Together is a pilot scheme from VONNE, funded by the National Lottery Community Find and County Durham Community Foundation, to support the voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector across the region towards Net Zero.
In 2021 Going Green Together launched a website as a hub, packed with learning tools, action points, and useful resources to help you become more environmentally sustainable and take climate action,
In 2022, the programme was expanded to provide more support, training and guidance for VCS organisations, to help them build the knowledge and strategies to tackle the climate crisis and support their communities in facing this emergency.
This includes Become Green Together, a programme offering 12 months of expert support, access to a learning platform, a carbon emissions tracking dashboard, and accreditation with Investors in the Environment, tailor-made to help voluntary and community organisations become the environmentally sustainable workplaces our future needs. Applications are open between April-May and July-September 2023. Thanks to Tees Valley Community Foundation, organisations in Darlington can also claim full bursaries to cover the costs of taking part. Find out more on the Going Green Together blog.

This campaign has been developed to benefit the VCSE sector and to encourage the sector to take positive action against the climate emergency. You can only start by starting. By collaborating with supportive organisations who share their own experiences, taking the first step feels less daunting. Once you’ve done that, you can only progress and start to achieve more on your climate action journey.

Testimonials:
“It’s supportive to know that other organisations are grappling with the same issues as us, and also to hear that even making small changes are worthwhile. It is motivating and reassuring.” – Karen Parry, Inclusion North
“Something that seemed impossible seems achievable now after friendly chats with peers. Gave me the courage to make a start!” – Michelle Cooper, County Durham Community Foundation
“Become Green Together has helped provide tools and focus for us to take our climate action ambitions to the next level. Genee and Smart Carbon have been incredibly helpful and we feel so much more confident as to how we can move forward positively with our plan for net zero.” – Mandi Cresswell, Meadow Well Connected
“balletLORENT joined Become Green Together in October 2022, and the training and guidance we have received so far has been invaluable. We are well on our way to a much more detailed breakdown of our carbon footprint than was previously available to us, and are in the process of revamping and improving our environmental policy and action plans. The knowledge we have gained will vastly change the way we look at our impact, and I can’t recommend the programme enough.” – Thomas Bagnall, balletLORENT
