Tattooing is the insertion into the skin of any colouring material designed to leave a permanent mark.

To offer skin-piercing treatments including:

  • tattooing
  • acupuncture
  • ear piercing
  • body piercing

both the person performing the treatment and the premises must be registered with Darlington Borough Council.

Application process

We aim to notify all applicants that their application has been received within three working days - online applicants will be notified by email.

You must provide specific information including details of your premises and any previous convictions for practising without a licence in this field.

Fees

To apply for a licence a fee of £294.00 is payable.

Application evaluation process

We will consult with health and safety and an inspection of the premises will be carried out.

No. It is in the public interest that we must process your application before it can be granted.
